Zones, Rooms, & Subzones keep track of where plants, harvests and packages are.
Zones: locations where you have live plants (pre harvest) in the Cultivation Area. Zone names should line up with the names you provided in your application for your license to maximize compliance. A Zone is created as a location within Metrc (for Metrc states) and is used for track and trace.
Subzones: smaller divisions of a zone such as a table or rack. This is a BLAZE value and not sent to Metrc as tracking is done at the Zone level.
Rooms: locations for all plant material that has been harvested, is drying, or has been packages. These also create a correlating location within Metrc for Metrc states and are used for track and trace activities.
Depending upon how large your site is will determine how many zones/rooms you will need. Before creating zones/rooms though, licenses must be set up first. These licenses assigned to the established zones/rooms will ensure that the proper license applies to the appropriate zone/room(s).
