The Member Segmentation & Cohort Tracking dashboard is an advanced analytics tool designed to help you understand your customer base at a granular level. It allows you to filter audiences by demographic and behavioral traits, track purchasing patterns, and measure the long-term value of specific customer cohorts over time. Use this dashboard to identify high-value segments, monitor churn risk, and optimize your marketing acquisition strategies.

Segmentation Section

The Segmentation Section allows you to isolate and analyze specific groups of members based on shared characteristics like demographics, purchasing behaviors, and brand affinities. Use the filtering tools and visual charts in this section to identify your most valuable customer profiles, monitor real-time engagement metrics, and discover actionable trends to target your marketing efforts more effectively.

Filtering Report Data

You can easily customize the data displayed on your dashboard by selecting the following filter options at the top of the page.
 

  • Controls:

    • Shop(s): Select the specific location(s) you want to view.

    • Date Joined: Filter members based on the specific date or date range they were added to your database.

    • Marketing Source: Filter by the channel, campaign, or origin that acquired the member (e.g., Organic, Third Party, In-store).

    • Member Group: Filter by specific, pre-defined custom groupings (e.g., VIP, Veteran, Employee, Etc.).

    • Gender: Filter members by their specified gender identity.

    • Product Segment: Filter members based on the specific items or SKUs they have historically purchased.

    • Category Segment: Filter members based on the overarching product categories they shop in.

    • Brand Segment: Filter members by the specific brands they purchase most frequently.

    • Sales Channel Segment: Filter members by where they transact (e.g., Ecommerce, Retail, None).

    • Email Opt In: Filter members by their current email marketing subscription status (Subscribed/Unsubscribed).

    • Text Opt In: Filter members by their current SMS marketing subscription status.

    • Member Type: Filter by the overarching classification of the customer account.

    • Churn Risk Threshold: Filter members based on their likelihood of lapsing, calculated by recency and frequency algorithms.

    • Age Group: Filter members by predefined age brackets.


Dashboard Metrics & Reports

Key Metrics

  • Members Joined: The total number of new members acquired during the selected time period.

  • Active Members: The count of members who have engaged or transacted within a recent, defined timeframe.

  • Average Total Spend: The mean lifetime revenue generated per member in the selected segment.

  • Avg Days Since Last Visit: The average number of days that have passed since the segment's last recorded transaction.

  • Avg Lifetime Visits: The average total number of transactions or unique store visits per member.

    • Demographic: The specific demographic attribute currently being analyzed (e.g., Age, Gender, Marketing Source, Member Group, Zip Code).

    • Demographic Metric: The quantitative value associated with the demographic (e.g., Total Spend, Member Count, Average Cart Size, Total Transactions).

    • Affinity: The specific product, brand, queue type, sales channel, or category preference being analyzed for the group.

    • Affinity Metric: The quantitative value associated with the affinity segment.(# of members, affinity strength, average cart size, average monthly visits, total spend, total transactions).

    • Behavior: The behavioral trait being tracked (e.g., total visits, last visit, visit frequency).

    • Timeseries Metric: The specific data point tracked chronologically over time (e.g., # of members, average cart size, average total spend, total spend).

    • Group By - Date Joined: Adjusts the x-axis grouping of the timeseries chart by the specific day, week, month, quarter, or year members joined.

 

Available Reports & Charts

  • Demographic [Metric]:

    • Visualize the distribution of your selected Demographic Segment by the selected Metric. Select any of the segments on the chart to filter the rest of the dashboard.

  • Affinity [Metric]:

    • Visualize the distribution of your selected Affinity Segment by the selected Metric. Select any of the segments on the chart to filter the rest of the dashboard.

  • Behavior [Metric]:

    • Visualize member purchasing habits and engagement levels based on your selected behavioral metric.

  • Acquisition Timeseries:

    • A chronological chart tracking the volume of new member sign-ups over the selected time period.

**Note: Member count includes Members that have not transacted.

  • Members:

    • A detailed, exportable table list of the individual customer profiles falling into your currently filtered segment.

Member Cohort Section

The Member Cohort Section is designed to track and compare the long-term behavior of specific customer groups (cohorts) over time. By grouping members based on their acquisition date and other shared traits, you can visualize their ongoing purchasing patterns, measure customer retention, and evaluate the lifetime revenue impact (Net Sales) of these groups to understand when and how they transact after joining.

Filtering Report Data

    • Shop(s): Select the specific location(s) you want to view.

    • Date Joined: Filter cohorts based on the period they became a member.

    • Marketing Source: Filter the cohorts by the channel that originally acquired them.

    • Member Group: Filter by specific, pre-defined custom groupings.

    • Gender: Filter cohorts by gender identity.

    • Product Segment: Filter cohorts based on specific purchased items.

    • Category Segment: Filter cohorts based on overarching product categories.

    • Brand Segment: Filter cohorts by their brand purchasing history.

    • Sales Channel Segment: Filter cohorts by their primary transaction channel.

    • Email Opt In: Filter cohorts by email subscription status.

    • Text Opt In: Filter cohorts by SMS subscription status.

    • Member Type: Filter by the overarching classification of the customer account.

    • Transaction Date: Filter the cohort analysis to only include purchases made within this specific date range.

    • Cohort Metric: The specific KPI you want to measure for the cohort (e.g., # of members, Average cart size, Net Sales).

    • Group By - Transaction Date: Define the time interval (e.g., Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly) for the columns representing when the subsequent transactions occurred.

    • Group By - Date Joined: Define the time interval (e.g., Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly) for the rows representing the actual cohort groupings.

    • Age Group: Filter cohorts by predefined age brackets.

  • Segmentation Type: The primary dimension used to group the cohort rows (typically the acquisition period, but adjustable based on analytical needs).

  • Cohort Analysis: Net Sales by Transaction Date:

    •  A visual chart displaying the revenue generated by specific cohorts over subsequent time periods, helping identify drop-off points or long-term loyalty.

    •  A deeper cohort analysis breaking down revenue generation segmented by specific customer age groups over time.

    • An interactive, customizable table allowing you to cross-tabulate cohort data against various dimensions and metrics for granular, dynamic analysis.

💡 Pro Tip: You can export this or any KPI held in Insights to a CSV or Excel file. Simply click the More Options (three-dot icon) in the upper right-hand corner of the metric.
