Retail | FAQ: Metrc Integration & Troubleshooting

This FAQ guide provides quick, actionable solutions for common Metrc integration tasks and troubleshooting scenarios. Use this guide to resolve API connection issues, order package tags, and perform daily Go-Live check-ins to ensure your BLAZE and Metrc systems remain in sync.

  • Why are my Metrc packages or transfers not syncing in BLAZE?

Third-party API instability is the most common cause of syncing issues. If Metrc is experiencing an outage, BLAZE cannot pull or push data.

  1. Check Metrc's API Status: Verify if there is a global Metrc outage by checking their status page.

  2. Monitor Pending Transactions: Navigate to Compliance > Pending Transactions. If the API is down, sales will accumulate here. Attempt to resubmit them manually at the end of the day.

  3. Check for a 401 Error: Navigate to Global Settings > Integration Settings > Compliance > Metrc Facilities. If you see a 401 Error in the top right, your API key has expired and must be replaced.

How to replace your Metrc API Key:

  1. Log in to Metrc, click the dropdown next to your username, and select API Keys.

  2. Click Generate and copy the new API Key.

  3. Log into BLAZE and navigate to Global Settings > Integration Settings > Compliance > Metrc Facilities.

  4. Click Edit, delete the old key, and paste the newly generated API Key.

  5. Click the Spyglass icon to validate, then click Save.

  • How do I order new package tags in Metrc?

Metrc limits the number of tags you can order based on your initial batch export. Follow these steps to request more:

  1. Log in to your Metrc account.

  2. Select the Admin drop-down menu and click Tags.

  3. Click on Order Tags.

  4. Enter the number of tags needed, fill out your shipping information, and click Submit.

NOTE: To ensure you have enough tags for future batches, calculate your order quantity by multiplying your total number of cannabis batches by 1.3 (ordering 30% extra).

NOTE: Package tags may take up to two weeks to be shipped and delivered. Plan your orders accordingly.

  • How do I verify my sales are syncing to Metrc after going live?

It is recommended periodically to ensure data is flowing smoothly between BLAZE and Metrc.

  1. Navigate to the Transactions tab on the left-hand menu in BLAZE.

  2. Locate the Metrc ID column. A designated Metrc Sales ID should be populated for every successful transaction.

  3. If a transaction is missing a Metrc Sales ID, click on the transaction line to open it.

  4. Review the specific Metrc error listed in the transaction details.

  5. Address the listed error, then click the Resync Compliance button to push the transaction through.

  • What should I do if the Metrc ID is missing from a transaction?

BLAZE sends sales data to Metrc in real-time. When Metrc receives the transaction successfully, they return a Metrc Transaction ID (displayed as Metrc ID in BLAZE). If Metrc experiences downtime or fails to return this ID, you will need to manually re-submit the transaction.

  1. Identify the transaction missing the Metrc ID within the Transactions section.

  2. Click on the transaction to view the specific error message preventing the sync.

  3. Review our guide on common Metrc submission errors and how to address them here to ensure the data is corrected before moving forward.

  4. Once the root error is resolved, open the transaction and click Resync Compliance button to successfully push the data through.
