Retail | Getting Started with the Product Catalog

The Product Catalog is a company-level home for your product data. Instead of editing products shop by shop, you manage one company catalog — products, categories, brands, vendors, pricing templates, and scheduled sales prices — and every location you assign inherits it automatically. Where a store genuinely needs to differ (a different price, a different SKU), you set a per-location override for just that field. Overrides are always preserved: a company-level edit never overwrites a store's intentional difference.

Prerequisites

  • Multi-location BLAZE Retail (US) account.
  • Company-level dashboard access with inventory permissions.

NOTE: The Product Catalog feature is rolling out in phases. If you do not see it available in your dashboard yet, please contact your Customer Success Manager.

Finding Your Way Around

Open the Product Catalog from your company dashboard. The left navigation contains the following sections:

Section What it does
Products Company products — create, edit, and see per-location detail.
Categories Company-wide category tree, including subcategories and display order.
Brands Brands shared across every shop.
Vendors Vendors shared across every shop.
Pricing Templates Weight-based tiered pricing you can apply to products.
Import / Export Bulk CSV import and export.
Divergence Report Audit of where shops have drifted from the company standard.
Onboard Guided wizard that brings your existing per-shop data into the catalog.

Key Concepts

  • Company Product: The single record you edit. Its values flow down to every assigned location.
  • Locations ("Available in"): Each product, category, sales price, and pricing template has a Locations tab where you pick which shops it is published to. A product that is not assigned to any location is not visible in any shop.
  • Inheritance: By default, every field at a location uses the company value, including future edits.
  • Override: A per-location value you set deliberately. That specific field stops inheriting from the company level, while all other fields continue to inherit normally.
  • Divergence: Any place a shop value differs from the company value. The Divergence Report shows all of it, chain-wide.

First Steps

  1. For Existing Stores: If you already have products active in your shops, run the onboarding wizard first by navigating to the Onboard tab. See Bring Existing Shop Data into the Product Catalog for detailed steps. This links your per-shop records into company products without disrupting your active shop catalogs.
  2. For Fresh Setups: If you are starting fresh, navigate to Categories to set up your category tree first (as all products require an assigned category).
  3. Create Products: Once categories are established, go to Products to begin building your catalog. See How to Create a Company Product for next steps.
