Retail | Product Catalog: How to Create a Company Product

Create a product once at the company level, choose which locations carry it, and every assigned location inherits it automatically.

Prerequisites

  • Multi-location BLAZE Retail (US) account.
  • Company-level dashboard access with inventory permissions.
  • At least one company-wide category created (products require an assigned category).

Create a Company Product

Step 1 — Start a New Product

  1. Navigate to the Product Catalog and open Products.
  2. Click Add Product.

Step 2 — Choose How to Start

The Add Product panel gives you two starting points:

  • Add a product from the Global Catalog: Search BLAZE's standard catalog by name or brand (enter at least 3 characters). Hover over a result to preview its categories, strain, weight, pack size, potency, effects, terpenes, supplier, and barcode, then click Use. The form pre-fills with standardized data — this is the fastest, cleanest way to add well-known products.
  • Create a Product From Scratch: Start with a blank form.

Step 3 — Fill in the Product Profile

The New Company Product form is organized into four tabs: Product Profile, Images, Locations, and Overrides. On the Product Profile tab, complete the following fields:

Section What to enter
Basic Info Name (required), SKU (leave blank to auto-generate), Category (required), Brand, Vendors (at least one; drag to reorder — the first vendor is the primary), and the customer-facing Description.
Pricing Retail price, wholesale cost, an optional pricing template, or per-weight pricing. See Product Pricing Options for details.
Cannabis Cannabis type, Flower type (defaults to "Inherit from category"), Sell type, plus cannabis weight and volume.
Potency Per-cannabinoid amounts (THC, CBD, CBN, CBG, THCA, CBDA). Fill the unit columns that match how the product is measured — leave the others blank.
Tags Free-form labels for filtering and segmentation — pick existing tags or create new ones.
Status Active (inactive products are hidden from customers but kept in the catalog) and Available online (show in online ordering and storefront widgets).

Step 4 — Add Images

  1. Switch to the Images tab.
  2. Upload JPEG or PNG files up to 2 MB each.

NOTE: Customers see the first image in the storefront — it is automatically marked Primary. To change it, hover over another image and click Make primary.

Step 5 — Assign Locations

  1. Navigate to the Locations tab (Available in · N locations).
  2. Click Add location and select the shops that should carry this product.

WARNING: A product with no locations assigned is not published anywhere. The form will remind you: "Not assigned to any locations. Add a location below to publish this product." You can add locations later, but the product won't appear in any shop until you do.

Step 6 — Save

  1. Ensure all required fields (Name, Category, and at least one vendor) are completed.
  2. Click Create Product. You will see a confirmation toast stating "Product created", and the product will immediately appear in every assigned location.
