Retail | Product Catalog: The Divergence Report

The Divergence Report provides a point-in-time audit showing where your individual stores have drifted from company standards. It scans every company product against each shop's local values and lists every difference chain-wide in one place, allowing you to review differences interactively or export a CSV to hand to regional managers.

NOTE: The Divergence Report is completely read-only—running a report will never alter or overwrite your existing product data.

Prerequisites

  • Access to the BLAZE Web Portal.
  • Appropriate permissions to view company-level Product Catalog reports.

How to Run a Divergence Report

  1. Navigate to Products > Divergence Report in the main menu.
  2. Click Run divergence report.
  3. The report will process in the background. You can safely leave the page and return at any time to view the completed audit.

The main runs list tracks all historical reports, displaying the request timestamp, who initiated the run, the current status, and the total count of diverged products.

Report Status Types
  • Queued / Processing: The system is actively scanning catalog records across your locations.
  • Completed: The report successfully finished scanning all products and locations.
  • Partial: The run finished with errors. While summary counts and CSV exports are complete, some interactive detail rows failed to save.
  • Failed / Cancelled: The report run could not be completed.

How to Read Report Results

Click on any completed run to open its detailed breakdown:

  • Summary Strips: View quick metrics for Shops with most divergence and Fields with most divergence. Clicking these chips will automatically filter the main table below.
  • Tracked Fields: The report checks differences across Name, SKU, Description, Retail Price, Wholesale Cost, Pricing Template, Tags, Status, Available Online, Potency, and By-gram Price Ranges.
  • Products Table: Displays each product along with its total number of diverged stores and specific affected fields. Click any row to view a side-by-side comparison of the exact Company Value vs. Shop Value.
  • Filters & Search: Search directly by product name, or narrow down results by specific shops or fields using removable filter chips.
  • Download CSV: Click Download CSV to export the entire audit log as a spreadsheet.

NOTE: Intentional per-location overrides are included in the divergence totals alongside unintended catalog drift. The report notes how many differences are recorded as overrides so you can decide which variations are deliberate and which should be cleaned up.

Handling Special Report States

  • All Clean: If no products diverged, the system displays "All shops match the company standard". In this scenario, downloading the CSV will return a file with header rows only.
  • Partial Status: If a report displays "Partial", re-run the report to generate a complete interactive view.
  • Expired Reports: Reports are stored for a limited retention period. If a report displays "This report is no longer available", click Run divergence report to generate a fresh audit.

How to Fix Catalog Drift

If you identify unintended differences during an audit, you can align store data using two methods:

  • Update Local Overrides: Open the product's per-location detail panel and adjust or clear the location's override values.
  • Update Company Defaults: Edit the main company product profile to trigger standard inheritance across all locations that do not have active overrides.
