ECOM Mobile App | Verify Your Google Developer Account

How to verify your Google Developer account so you are cleared to publish an app.

Summary

After signing up for a Google developer account, there are 3 verification steps that the account owner must complete before Google will allow you to host an app. Unfortunately this means we cannot complete these for you.

To access the verification steps, login to Google Play Console and check the Home tab.

Please complete the steps in the order they appear:

Step 1: Verify your organization

Click "Get started" next to the button to see the details. Google will request documents verifying that your business is registered and proving that you represent it.

Google will define specific documents for you to submit. Once submitted, Google will usually take 3-5 business days to review them before clearing the item off of your checklist. You can proceed to step 2 while you wait for document verification to complete.

Step 2: Verify your organization's website

Next, you need to verify that you own your website's domain. Once you click "View details" you will see "Verify website" and "Go to Search Console" as your two options.

  • If you have registered your domain with Google Search Console, click "Verify website" to send a verification code to the email you used to register it (easier but requires previous registration)

  • If you have not registered your domain with Google Search Console or you are unsure which email to access, click on "Go to Search Console" to proceed with an alternate domain verification

(If you are verifying by email, you can proceed to step 3 once email verification is completed)

Here are the next steps if you need to "Go to Search console".

1) Double check you are logged into the same Google account that you used to set up your Google developer account (confirm the account being used in the top right).

2) Enter your domain into the domain section as shown below. Then press Continue.

3) You will be instructed to verify the site that hosts your domain. Google may give you instructions for a specific DNS provider, but you can always choose the instructions that work for any provider.

  • You will want to follow the instructions that are specific for your DNS provider if one is recognized (such as GoDaddy in the example)

Alternatively, you can click that dropdown to choose instructions for any provider. Google may also force you to choose this option.

  • Google will provide you with a TXT record to add into the site that hosts your domain

  • Once inside your host's DNS you will:
    • "Add" or "Create" a new record (different platforms use different verbiage)
    • Choose the TXT record type
    • Host should be the @ symbol
    • Paste the provided text into the value field and save

4) Return to the Google Search Console verification screen and click the "Verify" button

  • it may take up to 24 hours for your new DNS record to be recognized

If your record is not recognized right away, you can click "Verify Later'. When you return to Google Search Console, click the option on the bottom of the screen to resume verification.

  • If verification still fails 24 hours later, try removing and re-adding the record

Your final website verification step will be to return to your developer account and click "Verify website"

  • It will take you to your account details page where you will scroll down the page until you see your website listed and click verify again

Step 3: Verify your phone number

This is the simplest step but must be completed last. Google does not allow you to verify this until the first two steps are done.

Once you click "View details", Google will direct you to the Account Details page. There, you can see your phone number and click "verify" to trigger an SMS or Phone Call with an authentication code. You can change the phone number if necessary.

Once you complete these 3 steps, your Google account is ready for app development. However you should double check that you added us an admin user in the "Users and Access" tab.

If you still need to add our admin user, follow the steps linked here
