ECOM | Express Delivery

Learn how to configure delivery out of your individual vehicle inventory locations.

What is Express Delivery?

Express delivery refers to our setting for allowing dynamic delivery out of individual vehicle locations. This method is commonly referred to as the "Ice Cream Truck" model. In addition to offering standard delivery out of your storefront inventory, you can enable vehicle inventory locations with unique delivery zones.

Typically, this involves offering a faster delivery time to a more limited region that a vehicle can quickly service.

Express deliveries will show as a unique order type inside of Mission Control and BLAZE POS.

Setting Up Express Delivery

Part 1: Assign Delivery Regions

This is broken up into two sections based on your point of sale.

BLAZE POS

Within the POS, you can create regions and assign them to inventory locations. Those regions will include your delivery area and sync to your Mission Control inventories.

Access "Regions" inside of Global Settings > Company Settings > Regions

Within your region, you can select a zone type (Zip Code or KML) and then define your area. By default they are set to zip codes, but you can click here to learn about KML zones.

This region includes additional settings like a custom delivery fee, opening hours, and cart minimum possible through our Dispatch Pro add-on. Learn more here

If you are using our standard plan, you will still be able to assign a name and delivery area to each region.

Once your regions are built, assign them to the vehicle inventory location(s) that will be servicing those areas.

Access this through Global Settings > Current Shop Settings > Inventories

Next, click the "Edit" button next to an inventory to update which region(s) are assigned to it. Make sure the inventory is also set to "Active".

Click "Save" when you are done.

The regions will sync to your Mission Control Inventories tab.

The sync may take 15-30 minutes to automatically update. You can also read how to trigger a sync within Mission Control.

Treez/Cova POS

You will need to assign zip codes to your inventory locations within Mission Control directly.

First, go the Inventories Tab.

Then click into the inventory location you want to edit and enter the "Zip Codes" tab.

Enter your list of comma-separated zip codes into the "Override Zip Codes" box.

Once saved, you'll see the zip codes appear above the "Override Zip Codes" section.

Warning: If you are a BLAZE POS user, this will override the POS region(s) you assigned to your inventory location.

Part 2: Express Inventory Configuration

In order for an inventory to be active for express deliveries, you need to:

  • Assign a delivery area to it (as shown in part 1)
  • Toggle "Express Delivery" On
  • Toggle "Is Active" On

Part 3: Activate Express Delivery

Once your delivery regions are assigned and inventory is activated, you are ready to enable Express delivery.

Access these settings inside of Mission Control > Settings > Delivery

Scroll down to the bottom and enable the "Allow Express Deliveries" toggle.

Set your Ordering hours for Express Delivery to control when this option will be available at checkout. You can set unique hours per day.

Set Special Hours for a certain date range or weekday if you need delivery to be unavailable.

Choose your Express Inventory Strategy to determine how inventory will display if you have the same region assigned to multiple express inventory locations.

  • Merge All will show all the inventory available from all eligible inventory locations
  • Select Random will show the customer inventory from one of the eligible inventory locations

Part 4: (Optional) Add Helper Text

You can add helper text to elaborate on the express delivery option shown at checkout.

This will appear as a description at checkout and possibly on the delivery selector (if scheduled or asap delivery is also enabled).

You can set this text inside of Mission Control by going to General > Site Configuration > Express Helper Text
