Retail | Individual Unit Tracking & Metrc Retail ID

Metrc Retail ID (also called Individual Unit Identifiers or IUIDs) allows you to track individual units within a batch using unique scannable QR codes. When vendors pre-label products with Metrc Retail IDs, you eliminate manual labeling work and can track individual units from receiving through checkout.

Getting Started with Metrc Retail ID

Prerequisites:
• Your vendors must support Metrc Retail ID
• Ask vendors to enroll at retail-id.metrc.com (no added cost to obtain Retail IDs from Metrc)
• Confirm with vendors that Retail IDs will be present on packages before accepting transfers

How Metrc Retail ID Works in BLAZE

BLAZE automatically imports Metrc Retail IDs when you complete a Purchase Order or External Transfer - no CSV upload required for Metrc-tagged products, but still available.

Step 1: Accept Transfer in Metrc
• Log into Metrc and accept the incoming transfer
• Scan/confirm the Retail IDs are present on the package

Step 2: Complete Intake in BLAZE
• Receive the purchase order in BLAZE as normal
• When you complete the intake, BLAZE automatically pulls any Retail IDs from Metrc and associates them with the batch
• No CSV export or upload needed

Step 3: View IUIDs (Optional)
• Open the batch in BLAZE
• Click to view the batch details side panel
• Retail IDs/IUIDs are stored here, indicating they are ready for use

Step 4: Sell at Checkout
• At the POS, scan the Retail ID QR code on the product
• BLAZE automatically adds/fulfills the correct batch/compliance package into the cart.
• Unit is tracked individually through the sale

Troubleshooting

Retail IDs didn't import automatically:
• Check Metrc - confirm Retail IDs are present on the package in Metrc before completing intake in BLAZE.
• Look for the Retail ID icon on the Completed Purchase Order, in BLAZE, to verify they were imported.
• Here, users can also initiate a sync for all packages on the PO if the package/s were updated pos intake into Blaze.
• Within the Batch’s Details > Unit IDs section, the user can initiate a sync per package/batch.
• If missing, you can manually export the CSV from the Metrc Retail ID interface and upload it after. intake.

IDs don't scan at checkout:
• Verify the batch has IUIDs by opening batch details side panel in BLAZE • Confirm the QR code is scannable and not damaged
• Double-check in Metrc that Retail IDs are available for the specific batch

Duplicate or incorrect IDs:
• Blaze will allow for the same ID to be stored on many batches. As Metrc may include all      manufacturing batch IDs - always confirm you're accepting the correct IDs in Metrc when accepting transfers

Vendor doesn't support Retail ID:
• Direct them to retail-id.metrc.com and explain the labor savings for both parties
• Ask if they can provide a CSV with their own serialization system (alternate method above)
• You can also manually create IUIDs within BLAZE if needed

Alternate Methods for non-integrated solutions

Manual CSV Ingest

If your vendor does NOT use Metrc Retail ID, BLAZE also supports manual CSV uploads for other serialization standards (Universal Cannabis QR Code or proprietary vendor systems).

When to use this:
• Your vendor does not use Metrc Retail ID
• Your vendor provides their own serialization system
• You want to manually create and enter IUIDs for internal tracking

How it works:
• Request a CSV file from your vendor listing all unit IDs
• Upload the CSV when receiving the purchase order in BLAZE
• BLAZE associates the IDs with the batch
• IUIDs are stored in the batch details side panel, same as Metrc Retail IDs
