This article will explain how to configure Relative Links on your Wordpress content site for the ECOM DNS Proxy
For the ECOM DNS proxy to be successful with your content site configuration, you will need to configure all your links as Relative Links. Relative means the links do not include the root domain and only include everything after the '.com' part of your domain.
Here's an example...
DO put links on your content pages like this (relative URL's)
/blog/
/contact/
/menu/
/menu/categories/edibles/
/menu/brands/kanha-edibles-50419/
DO NOT put links on your content pages like this (non-relative URL's)
www.yourdomain.com/blog/
www.yourdomain.com/contact/
www.yourdomain.com/menu/
www.yourdomain.com/menu/categories/edibles/
www.yourdomain.com/menu/brands/kanha-edibles-50419/
Step 1: Install the Tymber Lite Wordpress plugin (RECOMMENDED)
Download, install and activate the Tymber Lite plugin for Wordpress available here.
Once the plugin is installed and activated you do not need to do anything else. The plugin configures any links on the content site to be relative.
The plugin has code in it that allows the ECOM menu work with your Wordpress site. In the plugin settings, all boxes should remain unchecked.
How to configure Relative Links in WordPress CMS (if not using Tymber Lite Plugin):
-
Open the page or post editor in WordPress by selecting the page or post you want to edit from the dashboard and clicking "Edit."
-
Select the text or image that you want to turn into a link.
-
Click the "Link" icon in the formatting toolbar.
-
In the "Insert/edit link" window that appears, click on the "Or link to existing content" tab.
-
Under the "Or link to existing content" tab, select the page that you want to link to by typing in the page title or URL and selecting it from the drop-down list.
-
Once you've selected the page, you'll see its URL appear in the "URL" field. WordPress automatically creates a relative link for you, which means that the link will be relative to the current page's URL.
-
Click the "Add Link" button to save the link.
By default, WordPress will create a relative link to the page you selected, which means that the link will be relative to the current page's URL. For example, if you're linking from the homepage to the "About Us" page, the relative link would be "/about-us" (assuming "about-us" is the URL for the About Us page).
You can also manually enter the relative link in the "URL" field by adding a forward slash (/) before the page URL. For example, if you want to link to the "Contact Us" page, you would enter "/contact-us" in the "URL" field.
Remember to always test your links to ensure they're working correctly.

-

-

-
Under the "Content" tab, select the page that you want to link to by clicking on it.
-
Once you've selected the page, you'll see its URL appear in the "Link" window. Squarespace automatically creates a relative link for you, which means that the link will be relative to the current page's URL.
-
Click the "Apply" button to save the link.
By default, Squarespace will create a relative link to the page you selected, which means that the link will be relative to the current page's URL. For example, if you're linking from the homepage to the "About Us" page, the relative link would be "/about-us" (assuming "about-us" is the URL for the About Us page).
You can also manually enter the relative link in the "Link" window by adding a forward slash (/) before the page URL. For example, if you want to link to the "Contact Us" page, you would enter "/contact-us" in the "Link" window.
