How to troubleshoot creating an Apple ID for your developer account application

What is an Apple ID?

Your Apple ID is your unique account with Apple that is linked to phone number and email. We recommend setting up an ID for your developer account that is separate from any of your team members' personal accounts. 

Registration Error

When setting up your Apple ID, it is possible you will come across an error message. It will typically be a general message that "Your request could not be completed at this time." Check if your error matches the error displayed below:

What to do Next

The most common issue that we find is that the phone number has already been used to create another Apple ID. The easiest way to test this is to go to the Apple ID login page and enter the phone number. 

  • If you are asked for a password, that means the number is already tied to an existing account
  • If there is no existing account, a message will display that an account does not exist
  • If there is no existing account, we recommend trying to sign up again on a different device (we recommend an Apple device if possible)
