How to Set Up California Tax Options. These tax options are only applicable to California shops.

Currently proposed, effective July 1, 2025, the DCC will require a more granular level of detail in the data submitted to Metrc. Specifically, the DCC mandates the separate reporting of all pricing, applied discounts, and applicable taxes for each individual cannabis good sold. This necessitates a shift in how pricing and tax information is recorded and reported.

Overview
If you make changes to your Tax Options, make sure to update your Delivery tax Rates if you have any. Setting Up and Managing Delivery Tax Rates
Shop Information - State
- Global Settings > Current Shop settings > Shop Information
- Verify the state is set to California
Compliance Settings
- Global Settings > Integrations > Compliance
- *Enable the following settings to post transaction details to Metrc for both Shop and Delivery
- Post Delivery Transaction
- Post Detailed Transaction
Excise Tax Settings
- Global Settings > Current Shop Settings > Tax Option
- Click on the edit button to make changes, and be sure to save changes.
- Includes California Excise Tax: This option is used in California, where excise tax is charged to the consumer.
NOTE: One of the two options below must be enabled. Excise tax is REQUIRED to be shown on the receipt. Only one of the two options below can be enabled at a time.

- Do you want to include Excise Tax as a line item in the customer's receipt?:
OR - Do you want the receipt to include "The cannabis Excise Taxes are included in the total amount of this invoice.":
- Do you want to include Excise Tax as a line item in the customer's receipt?:

- State Excise Tax: Ensure your state excise tax is entered accurately for BLAZE to apply.
- Calculate Excise Tax after City Tax: This option will calculate the excise tax on the Retail value of the product, less any discounts, plus the city tax amount.
***This is required by the state of California*** - Product prices include Excise Tax - Default: This option should be enabled when all your products have OTD / pre-tax pricing. This setting will include excise tax in the product's price for any products added to BLAZE after enabling the setting. This setting will also update the Product price includes Excise Tax to "Yes" in the Product Profile for all new products after enabling.
- Surcharge Fee subjected to Excise Tax:
When enabled, the Surcharge Fee is subjected to Excise Tax - Click Save

Tax Mapping - Display Names
- Display Names - Customize display names for each tax rate
- *Tax Type - Specify the tax type to sync accurately with Metrc

Edit each consumer tax option with applicable tax rates and enable it as active
